Well I sit here everyday and I've been wondered
If they're ever gonna let me free
The days are slow and I feel my life is wasting
Forty glazed eyes watching the TV
And you told me you'd be coming 'round to visit
But I can't remember if you have been here
I'm looking through the glass
At all the brown and withered grass
And I'm scared that this is where I'll spend my final years

The nurses here all speak to me so kindly
I know to them I'm just another chore
They're allowed at any time to leave this prison
While the code won't let me open up the door
I know you'd take me home if you were able
But society has chained you with its rules
I was taught soon after birth
To cherish freedom and my worth
Yet in the end I'm only a disgarded tool

If I live to see another sun
I'll know that I at least have won this battle
I need so badly to be seen
As one clear voice trapped in between the prattle
Do you think that I could join you on the other side
To give me one more chance to feel like I'm alive
In this asylum
Oh yes, in this asylum

I read another article from Newsweek
Just to find the issue's two years old
Still I swear I heard this story somewhere
I figure that my memory's getting cold
They tell me that is why I have to live here
I tell them I have never felt so well
But when I lay back in my bed
I can't remember what was said
And I prayed to be delivered from this shrinking hell

If I live to see another sun
I'll know that I at least have won this battle
I need so badly to be seen
As one clear voice trapped in between the prattle
Do you think that I could join you on the other side
To give me one more chance to feel like I'm alive
In this asylum
Oh yes, in this asylum

Well I sit here everyday and I've been wondering
If they're ever gonna let me free?
Are you ever gonna let me free?
I said, are you ever gonna let me free?

Why do you leave me here?
Please don't leave me here
